First: The Three Main Questions Every Website Must Answer
When people visit your website, they are looking for answers to three main questions:
- Who are you?
- What do you sell?
- How can I get it? (buy it)
Before you do anything else, stop and give your website a once-over. Does it answer those questions? If not, do you know how to make sure it does?
Second: The Lean, Mean, Lead Acquisition Machine
Is your website a dead end? Here’s how to check.
- Are you collecting email addresses so you can directly communicate with potential customers? If not, your website is a dead end. This goes back to “Facebook is not enough.” When people give you permission to email them, they are telling you they want to hear from you. It’s a win-win. No email opt-in? Don’t know what that is? Email us so we can help make it happen.
- Do you have calls to action (CTAs) throughout your website? Do you ask people to email you, call you, learn more, read more, or subscribe? If not, add some! Make it easy for people to get in touch with you. Don’t make them hunt for your phone number. Put it right in front of them.
- Do you send people away from your website? Let’s say you want to share a resource with people who visit your website. Never open a link that leaves your website in the same window. Always have a link that will open a new browser window so the original window of your website is still there. You never want them to have a hard time getting back to your website.
